What happens when you Book of Moon a Brain Controlled monster?

Say I play Brain Control or Mind Control on my opponent's Stardust Dragon. It resolves successfully and is now on my side of the field. Then, I activate Book of Moon on the Stardust to flip it into Face-Down Defense. Does it still return to my opponent during the End Phase?

Bonus Question: If I Mind Controlled it, used Book of Moon on it, the flipped it back face-up, can it attack/be tributed?

Update:

I'd also like to know why. Book of Moon generally negates the effect of all cards that only work on face-up monsters like Equips and cards like Lightning Vortex.

No, it doesn't. It's identity is lost when it's flipped down, and thus becomes under your control for the remainder it stays on the field.

Bonus - You can't flip it back up the turn you Set / Flip it down, because that's how it works. You can still Tribute it, but you have to wait until your next turn to Flip it and attack.

Additional Details - Book of Moon doesn't negate the effects of the cards, it just prevents the monsters from being targeted. You can't equip a card to a face down because of cheating issues, and stops Lightning Vortex because L V was meant to be a lesser version of Raigeki, so it only affects face ups.

As for the additional details section, you answered your own question. Book of Moon negates the faceup effects because it flips them facedown.
