How do you replace the battery on a 2006 Kia Rio 5?
I know that sounds like a silly question, but allow me to explain. I have a 2006 Kia Rio 5, no previous owners. When I put the cables on the new battery, the horn starts blowing and the lights start flashing. I have no alarm system on the car, so it must be some factory system default.
I've tried hitting the panic button on my key fob, locking and unlocking doors, turning the ignition on and off, opening and closing doors, anything I can think of, but to no avail. There are no blown fuses and I know the key fob is in working order.
Is there a preliminary step I'm missing besides simply attaching the cables?

Well you should attach the positive first then the negative the negative is black in color and there should be a - symbol on the battery and the positive well its the other one. Not to make you sound dumb some people don't know. Anyhow you should be able to close the doors with your windows up and turn the key in the drivers door to turn of the alarm.
