Are the 9ERS pretenders or contenders?

They are SERIOUS contenders! Look out!!

Contenders. When The Patriots were winning super bowls they had one offensive weapon, Tom Brady. And they played amazing defense. The niners have Gore and Vernon Davis has been one of the best TE's this season. People overlook their recieving core and Patrick Willis dominates everyone. You can't say they haven't beaten a solid team when they beat a team who was a great Santonio Holmes catch away from winning the super bowl. People also overlook the fact that Frank Gore was hurt the entire Vikings game on his first carry and they still should have won. They're tough.

Pretenders. They play in a weak conference and haven't beaten any solid teams. The defense is good at stopping the run, but I'm not a fan of that secondary. They have one of the best running backs in the league, but I really don't see any other offense threats. I think this team is getting better, but I don't think they are a threat to win the NFC let alone the Super Bowl.

Contenders insofar as they're the best team in a weak division. I expect them to go 9-7 and win the division. Once the playoffs start, anything is possible.

I think they are contenders. Singletary has them ready to play. They may be a few players short of going very far but I expect them to be around at the end.

i honestly wasn't very impressed they had 2 offensive td's and scored on a fumble recovery td that was off a botched reverse, a fumble recovery td that bounces off someone's leg on a punt return and goes 20 yards up the field into the endzone and the niners recover it somehow, and a pick six when boller scrambles to the right and throws it back to the left right in front of patrick willis. if it wasn't for bad play calling and stupid mistakes then i think the niners had potential to lose that game

The offense has to improve. Still too many 3-and-outs. They have the D.

They are contenders and only getting better.

49er still weak, keep supporting gay marriage and will get weaker. Curse is coming for them!
