98 dodge caravan 3.0 broke timing belt, does the valves get bent on that engine?
We found out it broke the timing belt causing the engine to quit. Was wondering if any one knows if that would cause the valves to bend on that 3.0 engine?.Thanks in advance for any help out there.

That engine will be fine. I have replaced many broken timing belts in these vans. Replace the belt and you will be ok. Might be a good idea to replace the water pump and timing belt tensioner while your in there if the van has a lot of miles on it.

the 3.0 is a "free spin" engine so you should not have a valve problem unless you were doing like 65-80MPH or reving the engine over 3500 rpm. I would install the belt and do a compression test to be sure.
And as very rare as it is, I have seen bent valves on a 3.0 when the belt broke. the kid was doing 90 MPH on the freeway when the belt let go, tagged all the valves

you should be ok on that one like the other answer said though replace everything when you do this one, they make whats called timing kit that comes with everything needed to change the timing belt, it comes with a tensioner and a new belt ,but also replace the water pump on it,its to much trouble to have to do this later on,even if it doesn't need it replace it, you,ll be glad you did in the long run, get a repair manual for the torque specs on that engine before you attempt to work on it also,it will help you, good luck.

May be an ignition module going south. Had this same problem on a Dodge Daytona years ago. Damn thing would never do it at the service dept, left it in service overnight later that week and, behold! The next morning it didn't start. Tech was finally able to pinpoint the electronic problem, was a 20 min. fix.
