Are there any shallow parts in the Ocean near the Strait of Gibraltar?

In Plato's Critias he states, "...an impassible barrier of mud..." is what became of Atlantis. I was wondering if there were any shallow points in the Atlantic Ocean near this area?

Update:

Thank You for your answer, but for the purpose of my research I need a direct answer to my question...

Is there a shallow part of the atlantic ocean near the strait? Yes or No?

Plus, Wikipedia is not a good research source, It's a good jumping off point, but for concrete research wikipedia isn't the ideal source.

Atlantis didn't sink to the bottom of the ocean, it sank to the bottom of the world and is now known as antarctica. Compare the portolans of admiral piri reiss with a map of antarctica. Also, you may want to read the atlantis blueprint.

    Loads of data here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piri_Reis_map
