Very articulate homily by Fr. Ignatius. He aptly makes the case that the churches are founts of supernatural life and love, and that these founts can be lost by quite natural causes, including the demographics of smaller families, a dearth of vocations, and legal seizure of church assets through lawsuits.
These latter actions are unjust, punishing countless numbers of Catholic people who had no connection with the few homosexual ex-priests whose sins brought such damage. Indeed, the church has become a target of opportunity for those who are dissatisfied with the remunerations of individual justice.
Jesus celebrated the Christians who were as "wise as serpents and innocent as doves." Catholic evangelism should tear a page out of successful Protestant evangelical manuals on how to build up the church, presenting the truth in more contemporary packaging.
Cheers,

Interesting,
I saw an article a year or so ago about Cleveland and closing 17 Catholic Churches. if you read the whole story, you will find out that they are also building 7 new ones in the suburbs. They are following the people.
We are due for a spiritual renewal, faith suffers in a "Me First" Society. We have become spoiled.
Signs of Hope? They are there, In the Wichita (KS) Diocese there are 50 Seminarians, I can never remember more than 25.
You might also get involved in Crusillo, see it they have it where you live.
Besides that, Pray and learn your Faith!
