Is there any way to make a pumpkin mold faster?

I've got a zombie jack-o-lantern, and figured some slight discoloration would help the effect. Anything I can apply to speed up the decaying process?

store it in a warm area
..you could just throw on some paint to help make it look better ...rotting pumpkins stick and are a mess too
