HI, I am from Houston. I can recommend a couple of places for you:

    Indian:

Balaji Bhavan (pure vegetarian)- awesome food, try the kaima iddly, dahi vada, sambar & iddly, dosa platter

Udipi (pure vegetarian) Hillcroft or Sugarland--awesome food, try Sat & Sunday buffet if you are not sure what to get. Buffet is better on the weekend

Madras (kosher and pure vegetarian) Kirby location only, they have a good buffet, if you are going to order my personal fav is the paneer butter masala. Saag Paneer is also good, as is the mutter paneer. Dosas are really good to, and most are dairy free.

Shivas (Rice Village)- buffet is not vegetarian, but veg friendly. Have some good vegetarian dishes though.

Bombay Brasserie (Rice Village)-- not a vegetarian restaurant, but they have good vegetarian food. In fact, their food is quite tasty and they have pretty high standards. The buffet is not veg, but has enough veg food for a nice meal.

ETA: Masala Wok (Westheimer/Beltway 8) Indian fast food! Lots of veg options. Yummy!

    Thai:

Thai Village (Rice Village) I love this place, and they let you pick whether you want vegetables, tofu, chicken, or beef. So you can get *anything* on the menu, just say you want vegetables & tofu! Their tofu is awesome. I love their Pad Thai w/Tofu, Yellow Curry w/Tofu, Spicy Basil Noodles w/Tofu. YUM. You don't really need to say that you want vegetables because most dishes already come with vegetables.

    Chinese:

Yao's (Westheimer near fountanview, forgot exact cross street) Nice restaurant, and I think many dishes can be made with tofu. Their tofu is quite tasty.

Hunan Village (its on Shephard in the Montrose area (near Alabama, I think), they can do any dish vegetarian and their mock meats are fantastic, probably quite unhealthy though!!)

Quan Yin (Bissonnet, this one is mostly vegan)

There is a vietnemese vegan restaurant that in on Westheimer in the same parking lot as Doneraki & Ross. Near Fountanview, don't remember the name or know if it is still there. Its excellent if you can find it, it doesn't look like it would be a vegan place but everything is vegan!!

    Mexican:

Berry Hill (Montrose and other locations) They have good vegetarian enchiladas, tamales, and burritos. It is more "mexican style" food than mexican

    Meditteranean:

Aladdin (Montrose & Westheimer) Great food. LOTS of vegetarian and vegan options.

Fadi's (Westheimer S/W Houston, and Meyer Park location) Same owners as Aladdin. Great food. Lots of veg options. Watch out when you go to the S/W Houston Westheimer locations. Some veg dishes have meat in them and they are pretty inconsistant.... one week there will be meat bone in your eggplant and one week it will be vegan. You have to ask.

    ETA: Pizza

ZPizza (Bissonnet) I have not eaten at the Zpizza in Houston, but we have one here in C-bus and it is excellent. They have Daiya vegan cheese, which is really yummy!! I did a search and found a location in Houston. You might want to check it out.

If I think of any more I will update my post!!

i'm non-veg because of the fact my mum and dad have been non-veg. yet now when I examine a assertion of LORD BUDHHA , I easily have purely approximately stopped eating non-veg. LORD BUDHA pronounced--- U have taken thousands and thousands of rebirths on earth. maximum of situations those lambs or pigs or rooster have been ur father, mom uncles or infants. Why to consume flesh of ur mum and dad etc.? Swami Ramdev explains -- whilst u get indignant , u initiate sweating, initiate trembling etc, whilst u are afraid , u initiate sweating , trembling etc. Why ? because of the fact there r secretions of harmones etc. interior physique. So u can understand the way many undesirable secretions happen whilst an animal is killed . eating one in all those flesh is amazingly undesirable for psychological well-being. Now u see maximum of swine/cow/rooster -flu etc are spreading through animals. apart from Nature has no longer made us to consume non-veg. because of the fact a non-veg eating animal has very long gut to digest it yet v have small one. V have not got teeths like tiger. All non-veg eater animals drink water by utilising tongue yet v drink like cow.
