Investigating Pan/Tilt mechanisms?

Looking into adding a remote control pan/tilt unit to use in conjunction with a tripod or on the end of a camera crane. The camcorders could be as light as a consumer Sony HDR-HC1 (almost 2 pounds) and perhaps a little heavier than a HDR-FX1 (about 5 pounds). If I add a mic and high capacity battery, the weights go us about a pound.

I found the Bescor MP101 unit for about $125 and the Jony and others for $1,400 and up (Sachter, Cambo, Vinten, Barber Tech and several others). The Bescor can easily deal with the HC1; but is right on the edge with the weight of the FX1. I can't find anything in the $500-$1,000 range on which I would be comfortable with putting my FX1 (or other prosumer or pro camcorder of similar weight).

Suggestions?

I have a Bescor which does not have a model number, but must be the same one. It is rated for 6 pounds. I used it with a panasonic WV D5000 type video camera with no problems. I think that would be about the same size and weight class as the FX1. The camera weight is not as critical as balance and center of gravity. The Bescor was developed originally for cameras with a CG that is much higher than modern digital camera equivalents so i think the 6 pound rating is being very conservative.
