Why are people so afraid of the world coming to an end?

People are so terrified of 2012 because they think the world will end. But for the last hundred years, so called "experts" have predicted that the world would end at least 50 times. We're still here. I don't see any reason to fear the end of the world. Basically, I look at it like this; if the world ends, we'll be dead and it won't matter whether the world is gone or not. When the world doesn't end in 2012, there will be no change and it won't make any difference at all in our daily lives. You people do realize there were entire books written about why the world was going to end in 1984, and we're still here. I see no reason to think otherwise. So please, stop asking the stupid 2012 questions!!!

is there anyone out there who agrees with me on this?

Oh... I agree wholeheartedly. Most of the morons that believe the world will end in 2012, are merely confirming their lack of intelligence to the rest of the world. If they bothered to learn to read, they'd find that the Mayans NEVER predicted the end of the world.

As for why people are so afraid... it's because they need to get a life. If you live every day as if it is your last, you don't worry about tomorrow. I never worry about tomorrow. I'm having too much fun today. There's nothing on my bucket list. If I want to do/achieve/see/experience something... I do it now. Why put it off? You may get hit by a bus tomorrow.

So dance people... dance! Get out there and live your life.

I thinks people are so worked up about that silly prediction because of how bad economy is, polution, holes in the ozone, etc. That and all the wars going on today, so people think that because the bible mentioned some of these things happening when the world really will end that they are freaking out due to the mayan calendar ending, especially since the mayans got a few things right in their predictions. People are afraid to die, and who really wants to? But I do agree with you, if we're dead, then we're dead and nothing will really matter will it? That's what I think.

There's always been someone predicting the end of the world, and there probably always will be.

I suppose if they keep it up long enough they'll have to be right, eventually.

In the meantime, I'm pretty sure the world will last longer than the people who are worried so much about it will.

Personally I could care less what happens to the world the day after I die.

How the Mayan calender came to be known as gospel is beyond me, I mean if they couldn't predict their own demise, why would anyone take notice of their doomsday predictions for everyone else.

We've had the Y2K nothing happened, and every *the end is nigh* known to man, and we're still here.

I'll make a prediction of my own. The Mayans got it wrong!

I agree with you. And all the more, if the world DOES end. I'll be right there. Keeping an eye out for some nice gore going on. If I'm going down, I'm going down looking at the bloodiest mess I can find.

I agree 100%! I see like 20 questions a day about this. can't people just stop worrying about the end and live NOW? It drives me crazy!

  • *sigh* the 2012 thing isn't so much about the world coming to an End as much as it is about the Earth Could be in for another Dramatic change, that could end life as we know it now.

If most if not all of life as we know it with all the comforts and modern technology was suddenly gone from our lives, I'm sure many would think it might as well be the end of the world.

That was the main concern with Y2K, if the Main computer systems around the world that control more than you realize had shut down our lives would have come to a near stand still.

Being forced to fend for ourselves would not be an easy task.

Besides, no one wants the world to end, its where we keep All our stuff.

    Yeah, I know.

People say, God knows when the end is going to come, and now they are doing as if they know, when the end is going to come.

I think, the people who started this, are trying to play God.

Yes I agree with that only God knows what will happen in the future.
