1 lb chopped nuts equals how many cups of chopped nuts?

I am making a recipe and I do not have a scale, I am wondering this...

1 lb chopped walnuts = ____?____ cups chopped walnuts

    I just measured walnut pieces and estimate 4.5 cups for a lb . It would depend on size of nuts of course . The answer of two is confusing liquid measure with dry.I think where a cup is 8oz but that is 8oz liquid not 1/2 lb.

    Walnuts - shelled - chopped 1cup= 125g= 5oz

    454 g is a pound

    1 lb = 454g divided by125 g = 3.6 cups
