Usually it will tell you on the back of the coffee container. If you like/need strong coffee, do one large spoonful for each cup of water. If you like a medium or less strong flavor, do one rounded scoop for every two cups of water. Also - if you end up making it too strong for your liking, just add a little water to your cup to even it out.
If you don't normally drink coffee or don't really enjoy the taste, be sure to add lots of sugar and creamer/milk/half and half. It really makes a difference.

Usually one round scoop (or spoon full) to every 2 cups of water.
The more you do it, the more you'll find that balance that suites your taste.
My favorite coffee is Folgers Classic. It tastes the best in my opinion.
