Mt. Dew is the most popular drink and that is a Pepsi product. I prefer Pepsi all the time. The only time I drink Coke is with mixed drinks and if I am sick on my stomach. Coke is better on the stomach when you are sick.
As for the popularity, Coke is only a head I think because they are in most restaurants, otherwise I think Pepsi would have them.

No because pepsi gets to involved in political issues causing people to boycott them. They sponsor almost all the gay pride parades and support anti gun laws meaning that YOU will not be allowed to have anything to protect yourself.
Until pepsi can learn to avoid political issues too many people that do not agree with what they support will refuse to buy their products, me included....
