Which de-registration confirmation is needed to renew a German passport?

This is one of the documents needed for me to apply for new German passport:

"- Certified copy of the confirmation of deregistration from the German place of residence if it is entered in the current passport as the place of residence"

the problem: my passport was issued in Nagold, different than my last residence in Germany which is in Stuttgart city. Unlike my ID card, my passport was never updated with the later addresses. If I understand the requirement above correctly, I should be bringing confirmation from Nagold, am I right?

I have managed to obtain the confirmation of deregistration from Nagold, but it stated that I have moved to city of Stuttgart. I am confused as to which one I should hand with my application? Will that cause a problem?

Thanks!

You need the de registration frm the last place where you have been living in Germany.

If I understand you correct that is not Nagold but Stuttgart or did you move to another place after that?

Also responsible for your passport will be the local German consulate / Embassy where you live now
