not looking at his ideology, he was a very affective leader. He was able to rebuild the German military machine, while silencing opposition in his country. He built up massive support in his nation for war as well.

his treaty with Russia allowed him to invade Poland, without Russian interference. He was able to fight France and Britain without Russian interference by giving land to the Russians. He followed the concept of blitzkrieg very well until he failed to defeat Britain in the Battle for Britain.

As a leader, he did great until he waged a two front war. Then he ended up sealing his fate. If he didn't do this, the British would have eventually fallen - they were begging for U.S. aid...

With that said, i'm glad he is burning in hell.

Hitler will never be remembered kindly by history, but the world can't deny that he was a strong charismatic leader. The holocaust, his conquest through out Europe, and Germany becoming the strongest economic/military power at the time are proof of Hitlers bloody ambitions.

As a politician, he was a genius. He knew how to take a down hearted country, give them a common enemy, and gear their anger towards that group. Of course, genius can be manipulated into great evil or greater good. As a military leader, he was a fool. As a leader, he was incompetent at best. But as a politician who can warp public opinion, he was a genius.

There's a distinction between effectiveness and greatness. Hitler was very effective, in large part because of the repressive nature of his regime.

It is impossible to look at Hitler's years of leadership without looking at "his bad things." They defined him.

If you are not looking at Hitler's bad things, what are the "good" things you are looking at?

Hitler was a murderous anti-semite. He killed millions of people.

If I fed a hungry stray dog and then blew his brains out with a shotgun, would my "good" thing (feeding the dog) outweigh the bad thing (shooting him)?

    I don't think so.

There is a major difference between a leader and a dictator. A leader leads with intelligence and finesse, a dictator is a bully who leads using fear, murder and intimidation.

Hitler was not a leader, good or otherwise.

    No.

I do not because at the end of WW2 when he was losing he basically just went and sacrificed his people because he was too ignorant to surrender when he should have and when the war was basically over. Not to mention how many jews had killed. His military tactics were great but outweighed by all of the other things..

he was a good leader but like most he let his power overcome him and his ego got the best of him and that led to his ultimate downfall. Other than being a psychotic bastard he still was great at getting people to fight for him and follow him.

He managed to convince a whole country that his ideology was correct and that jews were to blame for the whole mess Germany was in.

That is up to you to decide if it was a good or a bad thing.

Great in the sense of making everyone subordinate and subject to the worst forms of living conditions. Awful in the sense of spreading happiness and enjoyment in life.
