So you have found the file?
If you have found it you need to
1. Right click the file and select "Get Info" (The "file" is in a folder on your hard drive not in Itunes)
2. Replace the ".m4a" with ".m4r"
3. If it comes up with a warning click "continue" (or what ever it says)
4. Double Click the file. It will then load in Itunes
5. Connect your Iphone and it will sync
If you haven't found the file. Find the song in Itunes, right click it, click "get Info" and in the summary tab it will have the location of the file down the bottom
(EDIT)
Thx DJ Lazy-E :)

awolf122 got it right...do what he says and you should have a ringtone.
One other thing. I've noticed that if the ringtone is over 25sec. your iphone may not recognize it. Maybe its just me....
