Do "Messianic Jews" celebrate Yom Kippur?

If so, why?

Update:

Is it "Christianized" in any way--like Pesach?

answer: many of them claim to, including some on this forum but, given their lack of apology to those they've personally insulted with vile insults, they aren't doing it correctly.

Is it commanded in Torah? Is it from Elohyim and not man? Was it given to all of Israel and the sojourner that was with Israel at Mt. Sinai?

The answer to all of these questions is absolutely YES!

That is also your answer to this question. Yes!

How is it "christianized"? I understand why you think Pesach has been. christianity has corrupted it and taken parts of it to use in their easter celebration. In this I would agree with you. But not concerning Yom Kippur.

Of course Messianic Jews celebrate Yom Kippur, the do it knowing this is prophetic of when Yahweh returns to earth on the great Day, the day when Jews will look upon their Maker and they'll see that He is the One they crucified 2000 years ago.

Aravah says: "answer: many of them claim to, including some on this forum but, given their lack of apology to those they've personally insulted with vile insults, they aren't doing it correctly."

But how can the Jews do it correctly, especially since there's no temple?

It depends on what you define as the "official" way to celebrate Yom Kippur.

Are you asking if we celebrate with two goats? Do you? No. So what is your excuse? We don't because our sacrifice has been provided for us like God provided Abraham a ram.

Are you asking if we swing chickens over our heads like those Rabbinic Jews who recognize the need of a sacrifice? No, our sacrifice has been provided for us like God provided Abraham a ram.

If you are one of the many that say "We can't make a sacrifice because we can only make sacrifices in a Temple and we can't have a Temple because the Muslims have stopped our ability to correctly worship the one true God.", then you obviously fail Judaism 101 by not knowing the God of Israel or Jewish Scriptures..

Our God never wanted a Temple.

Elijah made a sacrifice on Mount Carmel when all of Israel was worshipping Baal.

Yes, there was a Temple when Elijah was the prophet. No, Elijah didn't use the Temple for his sacrifice. So will you try to suggest that Elijah wasn't a true prophet or recognize the error in what you have been taught?

And no, all Israel was worshipping Baal and no, they weren't called apostate by the undisputed authority of the Talmud at that time. And yes, Ahab son is recognized as a Jew though his Mom, Jezebel clearly wasn't Jewish and their son clearly wasn't raised according to Jewish traditions. Rabbinic Judaism needs to know all 1 Kings 18 while embracing all that is in 1 Kings 19.

That depends on which father of Judaism you are speaking: Abraham or Zakkai.

    1. The first father is Abraham. Father Abraham had a personal relationship with God to the point that God made a covenant with him making the land called "Israel" his descendants "forever" and his descendant "the chosen people".

So central is this idea that God speaks and acts that if God's ability to speak is eliminated, so are the covenants with the land and chosen people eliminated. ALL the Torah and Tanakh teaches God's authority over His creatation and the creation's need for His presence and instruction.

    2. The second father is the father of Rabbinic Judaism, Zakkai. The single event that launched rabbinic Judaism forward with Zakkai as the father is the Roman general responsible for the deaths of about a million Jews becoming the emperor of Rome.

This movement is not about the advancement of the covenants with Abraham. No, this movement is about Zakkai, the pacifist, teaching those surviving General Vespasian's bloodbath how to celebrate the Passover in Israel as a Roman subject. This teaching could not be done in Jerusalem because it was rejected by mainstream Judaism a couple of years earlier. No, this had to be done in the city were General Vespasian and Caesar Augustine had private estates....Yavneh. Even the seat of the Sanhedrin was moved to Yavneh so everything Zakkai taught was with the approval of Rome as was done when Solomon's Temple was renamed Herod's Temple and the High Priest was chosen by Rome.

Those that follow Abraham know that God does continue to speak and act. As God provide Abraham the ram, He also provided Messianic Jews our sacrifice on Yom Kippur.

Those that follow Zakkai's Rabbinic Judaism celebrate Passover as Gentile subjects instead of as a free people. By necessity, they will eliminate the sacrificial system even though the Torah requires it. So no, Rabbinic Jews don't celebrate Yom Kippur as the Torah requires and they have not had a scriptural excuse to justify their failure.

So why do you have a double standard between Messianic Jews and Rabbinic Jews when Rabbinic Jews neither make the required sacrifices or acknowledge the one God provided?

    Hope this helps

Mark Biltz does. And he explains Yahweh's Sabbaths... at his web site. He also explains why both Messianic Jews and Christian Gentiles should celebrate Yahweh's Holy Days.

Depends on your definition of 'Celebrate'.

Some Messy xians see Yom Kippur as a day to ridicule Judaism, other Messy xians xianize some of the Al Chet prayer and then pray that all Israel be perverted to xianity.

They probably do (to make them appear more Jewish and thus enhance their deception) but they don't need to because they, like other Christians, believe Jesus (who they call Yeshua--again part of the deception) died for their sins, thus negating the necessity for Yom Kippur.

No, as with all the Jewish festivals, Messianics (Gentiles) have REwritten Yom Kippur to INclude Jesus. This is deeply offensive to ALL Jews.

The Messianic movement was founded by Martin Meyer - an ordained *BAPTIST* Minister. Baptists don't GET to start 'jewish' groups!

    Bottom line:

If Messianics are not Jewish according TO Judaism, then they are NOT JEWS, period.

Hardly any of them were ever Jews to start with, anyway. Nor do they wish to convert TO Judaism. Thus they should stop posing AS 'messianic jews'.

Why would they? Non-Jews don't celebrate Yom Kippur.

I'm sure they enjoy a lovely feast.
