If you answer mine, I'll answer your's!! What is happening to my ear?

NOTE: this is gross/gory. sorry :( i hurts really bad :(

This has been on me since I can remember and it's really hard to explain but I'll do my best.

Okay...there is this 'crack' between my earlobe and my neck-area and it REALLY hurts. it gets this crusty stuff on it and that makes it hurt even worse. I have tried everything:

putting on Neosporin

putting on Polysporin

putting on athletes foot cream

leaving it TOTALLY alone

I went to the doctor and got anibiodics (didn't work, came back)

getting the crusty stuff off (definately DOES NOT work)

This is a picture of me pulling my earlobe forward. Gross. Believe me, I know!!

I was wondering if anyone has ever had the same thing. If so, please tell me what you used to cure it or if it's just a life-long disease (hopefully not!! heh heh...).

THANKS!! and i WILL answer yours if you answer mine!! pinky promise! (and i keep pinky promises with my life!! unless of course my computer crashes etc.)

Update:

my doctor said it was an allergic reaction to nickel (the mineral or whatever). but the stuff she gave me didn't help. steroid cream and pills.

Update 2:

also:

I did have immune system issues as a small child (baby-2nd grade)

Update 3:

haha!! please post the link to your question!!

It's definitely infected. Go to a dermatologist right away. They'll give you some topicals for it. That's the best I can do.

What did the doctor say it was? also is this anywhere else on your body?

My guess is it could be a skin disorder. Like psoriasis, which is the most common form of psoriasis. It can appear anywhere on the body, but it is most commonly found on the elbows, knees, scalp, and lower back. With plaque psoriasis, the skin typically becomes red and inflamed and may form white scaly patches. It can be quite painful and may itch, crack, and bleed. This sounds mildly like what you described. While psoriasis may look like just a skin disease, it is in fact a disease of the immune system.

I would say to stay away from things like hand lotions getting in touch with your ear because it may break out even worse. Definitely see a doctor again, and if your doctor is not a help, see a dermatologist.

It looks to me like you have a patch of psoriasis. My sister and I have this as well. It tends to flare up in winter. I have a very mild case, mine is mainly on my scalp and behind the ears as yours is and I also have a couple spots on my underarms. I found that an over the counter product called Dermarest works the best for me when I use it. Most of the time I just let it run it's course and it goes away once the warmer weather comes. There are also prescription meds you could try. My sister has used tar based treatments in her hair before.

It looks like something called exczema. There is this serous fluid that can sometimes accompany this. The best bet is to ask the doctor for some hydrocortisone cream, and it does work. Another type of antibiotic cream is lamosil. This is also a good cream, and it will heal up. I had this sometimes, and it looks very much like this.

I hope that this helps. It is something that can happen. It is an immune deficiency problem.

Even though you only hesitantly laughed at my story, I will answer your question. =D

Actually, ironically, this HAS happened to me before. I don't remember how it started. I didn't even know THEN how it started. All I know is that the more I messed with it (i.e. take off the "crust"), the worse it got. I don't remember putting any medicine on it, but I may have.

All I had to do was NOT TOUCH IT. And eventually it just went away on its own. It hasn't happened to me since either on my ear or anywhere else on my body.

Please remember, though our problems were strikingly similar, I am not a doctor, and you sould probably see another one for a second opinion. I don't even know if the problems we have/had are/were the same. But I don't mind if you mention my story to anyone that will be looking at it. =D

    Good luck!

It's Eczema my daughter gets on the bk of her ear to. You need to ask your Dr. if that's what it is but he/she should have known that. Until then you can buy Aquaphor or Eucerin ether will help protects dry, cracked or irritated skin to help enhance the natural healing process for healthy skin.
