Is it easy for minorities to get into good schools like Vanderbilt, Duke, UNC if...?

Is it easy for minorities to get into really good schools if they have realy good GPAs? Like for example 4.5 or higher?

    Oh dear lord. No, there is no such thing as an admissions quota. It's actually illegal for colleges to accept people to fill a quota.

    If your GPA is good, you're in the running. However, the college admissions process is about way more than that. Get involved with something. Do interesting things. Live your life. That's what will get you into college.

    I know that here at Vanderbilt, admissions has been trying to increase the diversity of the student body for years now. Numbers don't lie; more of the student body is coming from places other than the South and is non-white, and the stats are trending each year to support that.

    Exactly how that translates to higher acceptance rates for certain minorities, I can't say for sure. But I would be willing to bet that if two people have the same credentials and one is white and the other a minority, the minority would have a better chance of getting in.
