Preparing (medically) for trip to Caribbean?
Hello
Im going on my honeymoon in March to the Caribbean from Toronto (Canada).
Are there any specific shots or medical things I should do and how long in advance do I have to do them?
Thx

I have been to many places all over the Caribbean and never had to have any type shots or medical clearances. I have been to many Caribbean island by cruise ship and also flown and stayed in the Bahamas, Aruba and Cancun. Never had a question or concern about shots. You should make sure that you are up to date on your tetanus shots but otherwise there are no concerns as there would be if you are going to Africa or Southeast Asia where Malaria is a concern.
You can get the best and up to date information about the country you will visit from the Center for Disease control at their web site: http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/
You can also get information about your travel destination from the US State Department web site: http://travel.state.gov/travel/travel_1744.html

If your flying, the airline your going on should have any updated information on medical matters. Call 2 times (6 weeks before you travel and around 2 days before to see if there are any last minute problems going on).
