No I don't see Bay or Holliday coming in. Ther Yanks will sign someone for a year or two at the most (like Damon). They want to keep a spot open for Carl Crawford who is a free agent next season. They won't get locked into one of these 20+ year old guys long term.

1st You have to love the move. Not only did the Yanks get a pitcher as a 3rd - 4th starter that has pitched over 200 innings every year for the last 10 or so but he does have some AL success with the White Sox. So if his era jumps from 2.87 last season to 4.00 this year but wins 14 games w 200+ IP he is good upgrade. Now Joba goes back to the BP where he belongs and Hughes is the # 5.
2nd - I think Bay might be the next shoe to drop. The Mets have been playing footsies with him and noone else is showing interest. This may be a repeat of Teixeira
The Yanks have plenty of loot. Revenues in the new stadium were appearently through the roof. Can't knock the Yanks for playing within the rules. I am for a cap as long as there is a minimum also. Lets say $70 - $150 milion. That sounds like a fare range.
I understand the Crawford thing but if the price for Bay stays where it is don't be surprised if they jump in
also Gadner is a nice 4th OF and don't be surpised if they send that guy they got in the Rule 5 back.

First off the Yankees have too many outfielders. Nick Swisher, Curtis Granderson, Jamie Hoffman, and Brett Gardner. Why would they sign Matt Holliday/Jason Bay? Both of these men would be great additions to the line up and outfield, BUT why would they spend the money on them. Matt Holliday wants too much money and Jason Bay is an expensive player. If they do not sign Nick Johnson, which im unsure if they have yet, They may sign someone like Jason Bay or Matt Holliday for DH only, but they would have to agree to lower salaries.

I don't want Bay, not when Crawford is a free agent next year. He's the prize the yankees are waiting for. Carl Crawford is one of the biggest assets for any team. I f the yankees manage to land him, good times to come!!
I think they should sign Damon. He's not the player he used to be defensively, but his offensive numbers are just as consistent.

The Yankees will pass on all the free agent LF out there & try to sign Carl Crawford next year! He is the best investment of the avialable LF options!

No. The Yankees have said that they do not want to spend the money one one of those three.
