Can i tranfer after navy rotc?
i have been interested in uscg aviation for quite a while now. i realize that getting in to the Academy is a very slight chance, and i am trying to plan my future on realistic goals. i am interested in attending nrotc for aviation (with other studies) then "transferring" to the uscg. i was wondering if anyone with experience knows what the least complicated way to do this.
p.s.-i dont want to have to get comissioned in the navy, resign, then apply for coast gaurd ocs for more school. all answers are appreciated!!

Bottom line...yes...the USCG will commission people from Naval ROTC and in fact has USCG officers teaching NROTC. Talk to a USCG officer recruiter for more details.
I know, right now, a USCG officer that teaches NROTC Cadets at a major university AND commissions a few of those Cadets into the USCG EVERY year...

I think your best option would be to become a helicopter pilot within one of the services, Army, Air Force, Navy, or Marines, and then transfer to the USCG, or just stay in your original branch.

if you contract with NROTC, expect to be a NAVAL Officer. very few ever get to commission in a different Branch.
