When do you put presents under the tree?
I'm just curious what other people do. Do you put presents under the tree before Christmas eve and then just put out gifts from Santa (if your child still believes) after they go to bed or do you wait and put everything out after they go to bed Christmas eve?
I have always put everything out after they are asleep Christmas eve for a couple of reasons, #1. I don't want them seeing shapes of presents that are easy to figure out what it is and #2. my cats would probably tear them up. On Christmas eve we keep the cats downstairs in the playroom with the door shut so they won't destroy all the wrapping over night.

We put out the family presents before Christmas but Santa doesn't come until after my son is in bed (he doesn't believe anymore but that's our tradition). I have 4 cats, two of which are suffering from cabin fever since the blizzard. They lay all over the presents, because they think I put the tree up and stuff underneath just for them. I use paper but no ribbons or dangly things and that seems to stop them from tearing things up. As does having a bunch of other, more attractive distractions and toys for them to play with.

We already have presents under the tree. We are having all my family over Christmas day so everyone has been bring presents over so they have less to bring Christmas day. My two oldest daughters who are 3&4 have started to sort them into piles for whose names are on them. The little ones don't really touch them much and the cats have actually left the presents alone as long as their is a spot for them to sleep under the tree they are happy.
Then the presents from santa will be wrapped in tinkerbell paper for the girls and Landons will be wrapped in cars paper and those we will put out Christmas eve after they are all in bed.
Merry Christmas hope you everyone has a fantastic Christmas and safe new year.

We put them out as they are wrapped. My 8yo daughter actually got the ball rolling this year, putting her gifts from 'secret santa shop' at school under the tree on the day she brought them home.
Having those gifts down there adds to the excitement and reminds everyone of the spirit of giving that we live every day, but more obviously during the winter holidays.
We've learned that the cats will, pretty much, leave the gifts alone if we don't use ribbons or bows...
Santa, of course, can't put his gifts under the tree until he gets here, after everyone's asleep, on Christmas eve.

Well everyone in my family is older than me, and I'm 15, so there is no point worrying about 'santa'.
We put them down as we buy them, but because my parents are divorced, the presents of my mum come on christmas eve and these are usually classified to others as the ones of 'santa'. So usually by christmas eve we have the full set, but at the moment we've got about half of them and they're all gifts to and from each other.
Merry Christmas.

I used to wrap them and put them under there as I got them wrapped up.... But I wrapped ONE present this year, put it under the tree....... And Johnny proceeded to go over there and unwrap it. *Sigh* The joys of living with a two year old!
Now everything is hidden in the closet, and will be wrapped on Christmas Eve, after he goes to sleep, except the present from Santa, which will be sitting by the tree, unwrapped, waiting for him to wake up :)

Our son is only 2, so we decided to only give him gifts from Santa this year (not mom and dad). We are going to wait until he goes to bed on Christmas Eve to put ANY presents out (including all of those for other family members) because he would instantly unwrap them!!

Mom and Dad start about the week before Christmas. We're all old enough to know Santa doesn't exist, so it's not a big surprise anymore. There's no room in the house to hide the presents anyways, so they just go there.

My husband and I put them out on Christmas Eve after our babies have "gone to sleep". They don't believe in Santa, but they do like the suspense of when the presents come out, and the surprise of how many there is on Christmas morning. We hide them at my moms house, because the kids aren't allowed to go in grammy and gramps room, so it's perfect!

When my youngest sister stopped believing, we put our presents under the tree on Christmas Eve.
But before that, my parents would wait till we all went to bed, and then placed them under.
Plus, just like you we have 3 cats and one hyper German Shephard puppy.
