Why don't Democrats understand that Spending and Taxing is a quick fix at best, and disaster at worst?

A perfect example.  Good luck to the people of New York, and everywhere else.  Estimating this kind of tax increase will in the long run create even larger deficits down the road, while making life more and more difficult for people, many of whom are struggling to get by now.
At what point will you have to concede that taxing and spending more might help SOME today, but hurt all tomorrow?

Republicans don't seem to understand that the government needs money to operate and the money comes from taxes. You want all the services but you want someone else to pay for them.
