DO SHIBA INU SHED????????

Do Shiba Inu's shed alot? If they do... can u shave them down, and that makes them shed less???

Does it make a difference in shedding if the dog is female or male???

THANKS !!!!

Yes, regardless of sex, they shed year round and also blow coat 1-2 times a year which means even more hair than usual. No, you shouldn't shave them down. The double coat they have not only keeps them warm in winter but actually helps keep them cool in the summer. It also protects their skin from the sun as well as things like thorns and branches. If you don't like a lot of shedding, pick a different breed.

    all dogs shed

Shibas have a thick undercoat, so they shed quite a bit

Shaving will not reduce shedding.. the dog will just shed shorter hairs- and you will ruin the top coat by shaving the dog.

    Male and female shed equally.

If you dont like shedding, then consider a low-shedding breed.. like a poodle.

ughh, they shed A LOT, if you shave them the hair will still shed, but the follicle will just be shorter. no, i don't think it will make a difference weather they are male or female. hope this helped!
