Has anyone ever heard of the thirteenth sign Ophiucus...?

And if you have, what are your thoughts on that and WHY do you think the ancients left it out of the zodiac?

Update:

Ophiucus is said to belong in the 5th element of ether (soul), and is said to be the serpent healer. In actuality, Ophiucus lasts longer than any other sign...but I thought maybe some of you would have some interesting theory on it. I'll leave the question open for a little longer and see if anyone else cares to answer. I appreciate all answers, and thx everyone for your thoughts.

Ophiuchus was "left out" for two reasons...it's not really it's own zodiac, it's actually part of the ancient Zodiac of Scorpio. Modern astronomers broke it off to form it's own constellation for whatever pointy-headed reason. The second reason lies in the actual definition of Zodiac....A Zodiac is a constellation that the Sun actually passes through. The Sun passes through Ophiuchus's toe (which is on the head of Scorpio), which actually overlaps the constellation of Scorpio. So, in actuality, what the skeptics fail to mention is that the Sun enters Scorpio and Ophiuchus at exactly the same time. The Sun travels through the entire constellation of modern Scorpio where it would only travel through one toe of Ophiuchus....

I guess you can be a toe if you want to.

Next, if astronomers want to add Ophiuchus by this definition, they must also add Cetus....the Sun passes very briefly through Cetus (which overlaps Pisces), so you would have 14 Zodiacs and not 12 anyway.

So the chart ring would still be even.

No matter how many times I've seen this posted, it amazes me that internet articles from skeptics are so badly researched, and that people believe everything they are told, just because they google it.

that is because of the fact the constellation of Ophiucus does not final long sufficient, so maximum Astrologers desperate to bypass away it out. as an occasion, each constellation of the signs and warning signs maximum cancers, Leo, Virgo, Libra, etc lasts for greater or less 30 days (which equals to 30 levels) in the zodiac. Ophiucus's constellation in basic terms lasts for about 19 days. It wasn't long sufficient so it became skipped over ...

That's because the constellation of Ophiucus does not last long enough, so most Astrologers decided to leave it out. For example, every constellation of the signs Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, and so on lasts for about 30 days (which equals to 30 degrees) in the zodiac. Ophiucus's constellation only lasts for roughly 19 days. It wasn't long enough so it was left out ...

I don't believe it's a true sign, cause it just doesn't have unique traits. It's mostly made up of Scorpio and Sagittarius so for some reason I don't take it seriously.

Because it didn't divide equally. After all, which element would it belong to?

And to that other person who answered, that's not true: Scorpio only lasts 6 days...<-- ??

    Hope I helped!!
