My dog is a weirdo I need help?
OK... Where to start awesome puppy easy to train . Then at about 1 year she went psycho _ im talking major anxiety jumped out a second story window anxiety --- SHE WAS PERFECTLY OK MIRACLE ---- any way she started tearing up everything when we left and peeing and pooping in the house - WE got a trainer--- its a slow routine but we can now leave without her going all nutso --- however, we still had potty issues - i tried cleaning my carpet with vinegar and water SMELL GONE and she no longer pees WAHOO_--- but obviously still one problem or I wouldnt be on here she is still pooping - but here is the catch ONLY IN ONE ROOM UPSTAIRS - I have tried closing the door that only works if I don't like my carpet she digs - baby gates - THE DOG CAN OPEN THEM SERIOUSLY ---- put her on a feeding schedule she does poop outside but its like she saves a special one for when we are asleep or were gone- we have tried puting something down and moving thaqt closer to the door don't work she poops around it -- we have tried ignoring the behavior and only cleaning up after her once she is outside --- I can't put her in a kennel SHE breaks out and that sets off her anxiety big time ---- SO does anyone have any ideas because im all out and tired of picking up poop - she is a great pyrenees so we are talking BIG POOP
i can't crate her because that triggers the anxiety and she escapes ---- the peeing has stopped which im thankful for because that soaks and goes down its just the pooing = we are thinking about putting an area rug in the room or changing the carpet soon - we are scared of changin the carpet though because thats a lot of money to spend to have her poo on new carpet --- but we have considered laminate
thanks everyone for answers i may try a little of it all and im thinkin airline crate not kennel that may work better --- other then her anxiety she is awesome - she is the most loyal loving and protective dog ever - my son can do whatever he wants to her and she takes it and loves every second and she is protective over him thats what makes it frustrating .
her anxiety is getting better - it started when i started having to go to classes and not take them online but she does only poop in ONE room so a spray may work
CANDY - explain to me what is cruel about anything I have done - nothing-- i have never abused my dog and I only have put her in a crate for 30 minutes to discover she breaks out -yes i have debated getting an airline crate to try it out- but she wouldnt be in that longer than 3 hours if I did- Second she isnt quit a puppy anymore she is over a year old . So if you don't have anything nice to say shut your trap --oh wait is it because she jumped out a window is that it because I knew on that summer day when i opened my window the dog would tear out the screen and jump out she never did before on the down stairs window so why would she upstairs TO EVERYONE WITH genuine advice THANKS

My rescue pup had severe separation anxiety when we first got him. (Probably on account of the fact that we were his 3rd family in his one year on earth) Anyway, he destroyed everything in his path whenever we would leave the house (plus hes a great dane). I know you mentioned the crating doesn't work for your little (big) monster, but my suggestion is you focus on that as a solution. Replacing your carpet and buying doggy doors is expensive! If you already have a crate you can work with her on "crate games." It teaches your dog to love her crate. It's his safe place. Also, (and i could be wrong but,) I am willing to bet she won't defecate in her crate. That's HER special place, she won't want to mess it all up. Sounds like you have your hands full, but i encourage you to give it a shot. Mine stays in his crate while I'm at work for 6 hours a day and is perfectly content. In fact, he chooses to spend most of his time lounging in there even when I'm home. He loves it. Good Luck!

The dog might have to go in a crate or become and outside dog. There is a spray called No Go and you can get it at pet places. The dogs smell it and it makes them not want to pee or poo there anymore. If the training didn't fix the dog there might be no fixing it. Also sometimes the whole carpet needs replaced because the urine and poo smell are still way down in the carpet and the dog smells it and thinks it's ok to go there. You could also try giving her treats when she goes all day without peeing or pooing on the floor. If she does pee or poo say NO in a firm voice put her nose by it and smack her on the nose and take her outside. This does not hurt the dog but shows them that their behavior is bad!

wow wut a nut lol..... i would try possibly getting a doggie door.... not the ones you have to cut a big hole in the wall.... just a sliding glass door insert. show her where it is and how to use it for a few days (coaxing with treats is a good way).... if she wont "take her self out" to go poop, since it is completely removeable and there is no installation required, just keep the reciept and box and return it.... petco or petsmart will take it back.... however you may want to check with the manager at your local petco/petsmart just to be sure since they are over a hundred bucks. i used to work at both and they didnt mind taking one back if your dog wont use it.
its worth a shot, especially since you can always get your money back if it doesnt work
Source(s): well i hope i helped you out :) good luck - Anonymous1 decade ago
this IS weird haha
well there are sprays you can get to spray in an area so the dog won't want to go to the washroom there, but it sounds like you'd have to spray it all over your house...
have you talked to the vet about his anxiety? there could be something mentally wrong (mental disorders do exist in dogs!) and he might have a solution (could involve pills though).
