I am a US citizen that has been working in Mexico the past 15 months. If I suddenly became unemployed, would I be eligible for unemployment befefits back in the US?

No, since no state unemployment taxes were paid on your Mexican wages. If you're eligible for anything it would be in Mexico. Good luck with that.

If the company was based in the U.S you can but other wise no. You have to pay in to the unemployment service to receive benefits and you haven't been you haven't even paid taxes more then likely so NO.

If it is a Mexican company they would not be paying into the employment security system. If it is an American company it could be possible. You would have to ask your company.

That would be a GOOD question to ask the Dept.of Labor in your home state.
