I am having my wedding June 26, 2010. Any suggestions for a menu or food that I should have my caterer serve?

It depends on where you are having the wedding; is late June mild, hot, or hot and muggy at the location of your reception?

In the worst case scenario, try serving ice cream or sorbet as a dessert to help your guests cool off. Limit the heavy, hot dishes like beef, and instead serve vegetarian, fish, or a little bit of chicken. Stay away from high calorie comfort foods like mashed potatoes or anything fried. Think about what you like to eat at that time of year; what foods do you avoid because of the heat? Ask your caterer to avoid those foods as well.

You never mentioned your budget and the venue.

This may be a good idea to talk to your caterer about. Don't listen to other posters telling you to avoid this and that--people still want to eat in summer.

For what it's worth, we're doing prime rib, chicken parmesan, cheese ravioli (veggie), then chicken fingers and fries for the kids. Our wedding reception is at an antique inn on June 4, 2010 at 6PM

Candy buffets are pretty popular now. Have lots of finger foods including fruit and veggies for appetizers. Cocktail meatballs, pig in a blanket ect. And then choose a meat for main course and have some pasta and veggies for the vegetarians!

I would offer people a choice of chicken, beef or seafood. I assume you are going to have air conditioning at a wedding, so I don't think you should be thinking light and cool when it comes to your reception. People still want to eat when its hot outside.

Make sure to serve light foods!

Fruits and veggie trays are always a hit.

Offer candy - summertime, children (assuming you're inviting them), airy atmosphere, sweet!
