my arms go numb and only resolve when I twist them a certain way?
This has been happening on and off for over a year. I'll be sitting or driving or sleeping and my arms will start tingling and "falling asleep". The only way I can get it to stop is to raise my arm to about shoulder level and twist until my palm is facing the ceiling. After holding 5-10 seconds in this position I can feel the blood coming back into my arm and hand. There's no pain, only numbness. Anyone know what may be causing this and why it takes such a weird position to make it stop?

Hi paned;
You don't mention if you have a weight problem and the reason I ask is sometimes, a person who is in the obese category can suffer from blood flow impairment by laying on a shoulder or by getting into positions where the blood flow is restricted causing symptoms similar to yours. If weight is not a factor, then there is something else causing this restriction(s) and it needs to be checked out because, if the blood flow to the brain (for example) is somehow restricted, you may pass out (like while driving).
I'm not trying to scare you but you need to find out if it is something simple or serious to avoid possible fainting or even stroking.
I wish you well.

You may want to see a doctor to rule out anything serious like heart problems, blood pressure issues, etc. Are you taking any medications? Certain medications can cause numbness in the extremeties. It could also be carpal tunnel. But I would advise seeing your doctor.
