Is it a Good Thing that Christ freed Christians from following Old Testament Laws?

The Sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross, it is said, means that modern-day Christians don't have to follow all the Old Testament Laws about offering animal sacrifices and what to do with the blood afterwards and not having sex when you're on your period and such things.

Is this Good?

Why, or why not?

"christ" (the magic jesus character in the bible) didn't. In fact, very often the magic jesus character in the bible is quoted as saying his followers *must* follow the law of moses.

It was Paul who "freed" them, not magic jesus. He did so in order to get more "gentile" converts, 'cause those folks would never follow all those silly rules.

    Peace.

The 10 commandments are God's laws. xtians traded laws against murder and stealing for sexual chastity - and the result is craziness like self castration and pedophilia in the church. Killing is pretty easy to avoid, but staying a virgin is not normal and not possible for normal humans.

Judaism is a progressive religion and the only one that has kept a history of their early behavior. They noticed that certain foods went rancid easily, and that blood caused illness (proteins are particularly susceptible to bacteria), they washed their hands and were pretty sterile considering it was thousands of years ago. The U.S. didn't have food sanitation laws until fairly recently.

Animal sacrifices went from feeding the gods to bribing God to having a big barbecue and feeding the priests and poor - progression.

Judaism has strict rules for treating animals with kindness and killing an animal by causing the least possible pain to the animal. Slaughter houses in the U.S. are automated and since it is big business, animals occassionally aren't properly stunned before the machinery skins and hacks off limbs so that some animals experience barbaric treatment.

I think the Jewish laws were brilliant and the people who started them to be remarkably observant for their time.

Frankly I think that the OT is more optimistic in its view of the world than the New. Let's face it if Jesus were in fact the Savior than it would stand to reason that Judaism would have ceased to exist. Given that the religion still stands it's clear there's a flaw in how Scripture is read/interpreted. It's pretty clear the Jesus failed to save anyone as Sin still happens/exists therefore he could not be the Messiah. I think it's far more optimistic to be seeking that salvation than to place faith in a failed Messiah.

I'm only guessing, but: there were no christians alive when Jesus lived, right>?

btw: Jesus didn't die on the cross.

and, I'm just guessing again: christians go by the 10 (old testament) commandments, right>?

Some of probably the most vicious criticisms that a few Christians have ever confronted have now not been from non-believers, however from different Christians. And a few within the denomination I am in. Jesus suffered the worst persecution from the “devout” organizations in His day. He was once extra approved via folks who weren't even devout. Aren’t Christians meant to be united in a single reason and target, simply as we will have to be in a single desire, one religion and one in Christ Jesus? You have almost always heard this oftentimes: The principal factor is to preserve the principal factor the principal factor…and that's Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. Why are there such a lot of specific denominations? I feel it's seeing that now we have specific ideals however those ideals are generally over non-principal problems. Issues which don't seem to be crucial to the significant crux of the Gospel turn out to be wrestle grounds. What this does is destroys our witness and its effectiveness and degrades the witness of Christianity. So what if one other worships on Saturday, one other gained’t consume beef, one other doesn’t feel within the rapture. I have heard a few feel that others are condemned to hell even as they themselves don't seem to be for containing exact ideals. A slippery slope is continuously harmful floor. If they aren't in opposition to Christ, why will have to we be seeing that now we have fairly specific perspectives? I believe after we get to heaven, we will be able to all, (me incorporated) detect that we have got been mistaken approximately exact ideals we held as precise. But the centrality of the move and Jesus crucified is cast theological floor and now not negotiable, so why will have to we (as I have too) negotiate and pass judgement on one one other in locations that don't seem to be principal to the message of the Gospel? God gave us a record of sins in order to NOT inherit the Kingdom of heaven in Galatians and Revelation. It is a courting with GOD - JESUS. 6 yr Christian and we compete with each and every different and are hardly ever supportive of 1 one other.

It's a shame nothing Jesus says actually backs up that claim. He says in his own words he didn't come to change the laws. He was Jewish and not trying to make a new religion.

yes because no one can become rightious by observing the old law it was given to show us our unrightiousness and then we turn to the rightious one Jesus for life, Jesus died to take away the sins of the whole world from the eyes of God nevr to see them again we walk in this truth daily and Jesus ushered in a new covenant where your sins and lawless acts i will rembemer no mre and where these have been taken away there is no longer any sacrafice for sins. and before he went up he said the only sin left in the world was unbelife in me this needs to be repented of and that can be done by changing your mind and believing.

I am glad we no longer sacrifice lambs and have burnt offerings. It's nice to have a ham sandwich with extra mayonaisse once in a while. I love fried shrimp, lobster and butter sauce.
