Outkast, Wu-Tang Clan, Run-DMC, NWA, The Roots, etc...?

The best rap group would have to be Wu Tang because of quality they put out plus all of the solo works which are amazing as well. However the Roots and Tribe come in a close 2nd place

The group that did the most for rap would either be N.W.A. or Sugarhill, N.W.A. commercialized and created a whole new genre, but Sugarhill made hip-hop mainstream

If I were to listen to one group for the rest of my life it would have to be the Roots. I absolutely love their music. They are more music oriented than any other rap group. Plus Black Thought is one of the best artists in this genre.

1. I will say influence wise the Sugarhill gang, sure NWA made gangster rap cool, but Sugarhillgang made rap cool. Like most people didn't even know rap until Rappers Delight came on.

3. Wu-Tang Clan, between them, their solo work, collab albums, and their affiliates I would have at least 10 new cds year, so I would chose that for diversities sake. Not to mention they already have classic releases, so I know I can always revert to those.

Outkast by far they have a wider fan base for a reason.

I have a lot of respect for N.W.A. especially Ice Cube.

The rest are cool, but not better than Outkast.
