Is AZ biting Rae's success...?
I don't know if anyone heard about this yet (haven't been around lately), but AZ is planning on releasing a Doe or Die 2 featuring a heavy allstar production cast (Premo, Pete Rock and Dre along with others) and has said he is going back to his multi-syllable style in an attempt to appeal to his die hard fans instead of trying to crack mainstream.
Do you think he would have announced this if not for the success of OB4CL2 and it's star studded line-up?
Sounds dope to me and is my most anticipated album for next year, but I am very cautious about his plans, don't wanna be let down.
BQ: Completely off topic. Fave Wu-affiliate solo release.
I feel you CZ.
Not Wu member Drab, Wu affiliates like Killah Priest and Sunz of Man etc.
Andy, you have to remember the decline in album sales as well as he was a multi-platinum selling artist during the mid-90's, things do change... I was talking more of a critical success

See this is why I love AZ. He's been in the game for a good 10+ years, and look at him and compare to Snoop Dogg. AZ is that type of "celebrity" that actually CARES about what he does instead of just trying to get rich from it. For me Doe or Die 2 is looking like it's going to be album of the year for 2010, and I'm proud to call myself "an AZ fan".
Oh and no he's not biting Raekwon, he's just... kinda like using it as an inspiration of how he would like his album to end up like. You feel me?

I guess Nas had a couple of mediocre albums before Stillmatic but then he became more noticed again it doesn't hurt AZ to do a Doe or Die 2 because his other albums though good in parts aren't on the same level as Doe or Die at least in my opinion.
Wu affiliate - if you mean one of the Wu then probably
Ironman, Supreme Clientele or Fishscale by Ghost.
if you mean semi-Wu then maybe
Killah Priest w/ Chief Kamachi - Beautiful Minds
or
Bronze Nazareth - Wisemen Approaching

I wouldn't call OB4CL2 a success when it barely moved over 100,000 units when he's a multi-platinum selling artist. AZ isn't biting Rae, Rae ain't the first to have a part 2 album, you know?
BQ: Heavy Mental by Killah Priest

Not at all, considering other rappers have done sequels to their albums. Blueprint 2 and 3, Stillmatic, the Tical albums, Blackout 2 for instance.

Naw I think that he's going back to the roots of hip-hop which is what all of hip-hop should be doing right now. So much of today's hip-hop is being made just for the money and not for the expression of emotion which is a disappointment for the die hard fans
