What would be a good song to sing for my father's memorial?
My father just passed away recently and I want to record a song to play at his memorial service. I'm having trouble thinking of anything. I would like something that focuses on the happy times between a father and a daughter that is in either rock/indie/acoustic/singer/songwriter genres.
People have suggested "Butterfly Kisses" already, I don't know if I want to do that.
Thanks for any help. :]

This answer is to Alexis
That is a really inappropriate song... she's talking about her father passing away and you suggest a song with "lets make love tonight" in the lyrics?

When my wife died I faced the same decision. I finally settled on WIND BENEATH MY WINGS.... I had some others that I planned to perform, but I had such a hard time with the first one.. I dropped the other songs from the program.
When my Mother died I performed SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW because it was her favorite SECULAR song. That was in 1973 and ever since then, when something comes up and I can't figure out an answer or I need a shoulder to lean on.. I HEAR THAT SONG.. It's come from such varied places as the PA system in a Bruxelles Subway station to a ballpark concert and everything else in between.... so I just say "Thank you Mother' and then make my decision.
CHOOSE CAREFULLY.. pick a song you wouldn't normally do because it needs to stay Special to you..
You have my sympathy.

Nayobe- Good Things Come To Those Who Wait Lyrics
Its been awhile that we've been together
The love we shared has meant so much
And we've been patient, waiting for the right time
Knowing that it would be wrong to run
But tonight I know the time for love has come
That special moment has arrived
And now I'm sure this love we have is real
And I know that our love will survive, 'cause...
Chorus:
Good things come to those who wait
And we waited long enough for, the time for love is right
Good things come to those who wait
Now I'm ready for your lovin' so lets make love tonight
Light up the night, I've dreamed about this moment
That you and I would be as one
But making love is something that we should always cherish
Not something we only do for fun
But tonight I know the time for love has come
That special moment has arrived
And now I'm sure this love we have is real
And I know that our love will survive, 'cause...
Chorus
Good things come to those who wait
Let me take you to a place where you have never been before
Good things come to those who wait
We have done our share of waiting, now there's nothing, love is gone
Good things come to those who wait
