2 months old kitten throwing up?

My kitten started throwing up thing morning. It is clear liquid, looks like saliva and there is no smell to it. She has done it 4 times in the last hour or 2. I called the vet and the girl told me the doctor isn't there today, but she said not to feed her or give her any water for 5 hours or so. I am still worried. She is too young to be throwing hairballs. Her hair doesn't fall off at all yet. Also she doesn't eat any grass. I can't think of anything she could have eaten to cause this. Has anyone had a similar experience and how did it turn out?

Update:

We got her from the shelter and she was even younger. I think about 1 month or a little over.

Update 2:

She was not sick when we got her. She has been just fine playing around and all. She seems to have calmed down now but we are going to the vet anyways.

It could be a digestive tract obstruction. Certain kinds of viruses, parasites and toxins are also possibilities. Winter toxins include poinsettias and antifreeze, so your kitten may have had access to a toxin other than food.

Is there a 24-hour veterinary hospital in your area? If so, take your kitten there immediately. Do a google search or look in online yellow pages for a veterinary "specialty" hospital in your area.

Also, how did you get a 2-month old kitten? By present day standards, that is too young to take a kitten from its mother and original family. If a shelter cat, no problem. Sometimes shelters adopt out that young because the kitten is better off with you than in the shelter. If from a breeder, I would be concerned that you may have purchased a sick cat from a back yard breeder or kitten mill. In that case, get your money back.

In between weaning and about 12 weeks of age, a kitten's immune system is very weak. It no longer has the benefit of its mother's immune system, and its own immune system is not yet strong enough to protect it. Not only could the kitten contract a virus or parasite that is making it sick now, but it could be more vulnerable to a lethal virus like FIP that may not have symptoms for several more months. That is one of the main reasons why good breeders, and many shelters, will not sell/adopt kittens younger than 12 weeks, and some will not sell them younger than 16 weeks old.

If your vet thinks the kitten was sick when you got her, consider reporting it to your local SPCA or Humane Society and to the registration organization (FCA or TICA). The only way they can investigate a breeder keeping cats in poor conditions is if the purchasers complain.

It could be the kitten got a cold, it happened to my kitten. Just keep an eye to make sure there is no discharge coming from the nose. But otherwise animals throw up sometimes for no reason. If kitten is active than it shouldn't be any problem.

    Source(s): I have a cat and 2 dogs.

I'm sure that she is fine, my cat used to throw up all the time for no reason. Just monitor her behavior, if she has lost her energy or is not acting as playfull then you should find an emergency animal hospital to take her to.

    ahhhhhhhhh poor kitten.

It's probably only worms though but I still think you should get it checked out at the vet.
