just me or was she being rude?
i was picking up donuts to take to my parents house for breakfast and while i was there, the lady who owns the shop (i know her & her family) was talking with a male customer she seemed to know. she said "schools these days don't even have christmas break anymore, they're calling it winter break, same with easter, it's spring break." well...not everyone in the world celebrates christmas or easter? schools aren't allowed to call it that anymore for obvious reasons.
was she being unreasonable/rude or was it just me overreacting?
** i celebrate christmas, but still was slightly irritated by what she said.

I don't really think it was meant to be rude. It was just an opinion she strongly believed in, and it's ok. You have your own opinions, and so does everyone else. You are right though about how not everyone celebrates Christmas/Easter, that's why is Winter Break/Spring Break. Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays!

Although she has the right to express her opinions, she was being a little ignorant. What about people who don't celebrate christmas or easter? If they called it "christmas break", it would probably offend some people who don't celebrate christmas. same thing with easter.

She wasn't being rude, she was voicing her opinion. Plus she was voicing that opinion with someone she seemed to know. Not everyone shares the same traditions or religious beliefs, but the political correctness seems to have gotten way out of hand.
(Christmas and Easter are capitalized, by the way.)
Merry Christmas!!

I don't get it - what was rude about what she said? She was expressing her opinion that it is unfortunate that we can't refer to Christmas and Easter anymore like we have for a thousand years. It's her opinion - what's the offense in her saying?

Personally, I think she was not being very understanding, however I understand what she is trying to say, she may have been brought up in a close minded environment, and in her time she may have been taught that Christianity is the only true religion and this is a Christian country. However, she must understand that the world is changing, it is now multi-cultural as well as multi-religious. There are now many types of religions and that the holidays are named so that everyone is addressed without being offended.
Hope this helps :D

I don't think she was being unreasonable. It's sad what this world has come to that we now have to call a Christmas tree (what it OBVIOUSLY is) a "holiday tree". Since when did Hanukah have a tree in their celebration? It really annoys me that people overdo it with political correctness!

As long as she was just expressing her views and was not being rude, why should you be irritated? She's entitled to her opinion about the new terminology, just like you are entitled to yours. Listening to others talk about subjects you disagree on without judging them is called "tolerance" and we need much more of it in the world today.

She was perfectly rite. These days the holidays are not how they were once and as for Christmas, God I love Christmas so I don't like it too when it's importance is diminished.

She wasn't being rude. She was having a conversation with one of her customers who was probably one of her friends. Having a discussion with someone isn't being rude, you're just overreacting.

Though I agree with you about seasonal breaks - she was just stating her opinion in a conversation with someone. She has every right to do that. Just because you disagree with her does not make her rude.
I think you are overreacting a tad
