All The Questions Tonight About How JWs Must Lead Boring Lives Simply Because We Don't Celebrate Christmas...?
Is Christmas the only time some people have fun in their lives, such that the thought of NOT celebrating it makes life look absolutely bleak to them???
We don't celebrate Ramadan or Hanukkah either, which are religious holidays of religions we do not belong to, just as Christmas is a religious holiday taken from the pagans and "Christianized" but there's still nothing Christian about it (Google that if you didn't know), so what's the problem?
Besides, anyone who has any JW friends or relatives knows we have parties and celebrations whenever we want to, all year round.
For Adam- These were asked in the past hour:

Whatever reservations I may have about the religion practiced by Jehovah's Witnesses- and I'd be lying if I said I had no reservations- they have nothing to do with Christmas. Christmas is a big overblown thing these days: fun, but not always what it's cracked up to be. In any case, I don't think of it as a particularly spiritual time of year. Jesus never commanded that we observe His birth; He bid us remember His words and His death and resurrection.
Maybe it's because I'm around a lot of people who have no families, but I see the sad side of Christmas too. If you've ever seen an old woman in a nursing home sobbing because it's Christmas Eve and her children are too busy or self-involved to visit, you get a little bummed out about the whole thing.

Christmas is a very stressful time for many in the world. We choose not to celebrate and not to lie to our children over 15 years ago before we studied with the witnesses. We have lots of fun. We go to parties all the time. My kids get gifts all year round.

The questions being asked about JWs and their poor boring lives doesn't reflect how many in the world, at least in the US, think about holidays. A lot of the people I work with tell me they envy me this time of year, as I'm relaxed and not rushing around in a frenzy of buying, decorating, cooking and dealing with umpteen relatives invading their house. Plus, this is one of the busiest times of the year in my business, and they can't ignore that either. So it's me feeling sorry for them.
That goes for kids, too. When my son was a boy many of his classmates envied the fact that he got presents all during the year and went on long vacations all over the country. Deprived? I don't think so. Relieved? You bet!

Any time I wake early enough to see the sun rise I get in the mood but then come mid morning I get tired and just want to go back to bed. be spontanious and just get out there and see what takes your fancy. The day is a blank canvas. Have a nice one.

I am not bored, nor am I unhappy, nor do I miss any of the pagan holidays. Rather, I am, always busy, always happy to be a servant of Jehovah God, and most of all, I love and give all year long, I don't need any of the pagan holidays, and I still have a few bucks in my pocket too.

At least it doesn't get us in to debt, for those who celebrate these pagan beliefs.
It's a shame that many people around the world are like sheep, all following each other. Christmas has nothing to do with Jesus.

Jesus went to a wedding feast. That's a party. But he didn't Celebrate Christmas.
And I do believe as the above poster points out, that we are saved by faith. I too am a Jehovah's witness.

Boring? LOL
We JWs spend some of the most exciting lives in the world! ;-)
All the fulfilled prophecies
All the fulfilling prophecies
All the outstanding prophecies
Who, when knowing all that, needs Christmas?

Christmas doesn't look much fun to me. I see it as a great stress producer, and a great opportunity for corporate profits.
JWs celebrate other things and have parties and such.
The anti-JW propaganda promoters say that JWs don't celebrate anything, but that's a lie.
