How many people have hepatitis-c in USA?

    Last I read it's about 4% of Americans...(about 14 million people) It's hard to say for sure though, many people don't know they have it.

    There is no possible way of knowing this. There's allot of people that don't even know they have it to begin with. Remember that Hepatitis C doesn't necessarily show symptoms if a person takes care of themselves. I didn't now I had it for many years until I got that telephone call that told me a blood transfusion I got in 1984 had Hepatitis C contamination. This was before they started to screen the blood donors for that and allot of other diseases that people had, then would sell there blood for the money to get drugs. Since I didn't find out before I came down with COPD from smoking it was too late for me to go on the antiviral treatment. Because of what happened not only to me, but to allot more people too, it's way too hard to track down. There is no law in reporting it even if you did know. I can't imagine why you would want or need this number, except to tell you the closet estimate would be from the CDC and/or WHO and see what statistics they have on it. Good luck and God Bless
