    It is 2 hours and 38 mins until your party.

    Each person gets 24 jelly beans. Simply divide 840 by 35.

    Okay, so whenever you have this type of word problem, you look for clues as to determine which operation you should perform (multiplication, addition, subtraction, and division). In this case, you can spot the word "divided" so you can tell that this is going to be a division problem. Therefore, you divide 840 by 35, and, using a calculator, you get 24. Hence, each student got 24 jelly beans.

    To find this, you just want to make a simple fraction that will allow each person to have the same amount of jelly beans. So all you have to do is the equation

    840 / 35

    (in other words, objects divided by students). |

    This equals 24 jelly beans per student.

    Source(s): The answer is 24 jelly beans for each student.

    840 jelly beans divided by 35 students = 840/35 = 24 jelly beans/student

    I am guessing that the jelly beans were stored in those little plastic eggs?

    35 * E = 840

    (35*E)/35 = (840/35)

    E = 24

    Simply make it a fraction and make the fraction as simple as possible.

    840/35 divide both by 5 and you get 168/7. Divide both by 7 and you get 24/1 or just 24. 24 per student. Seriously, practice division or you're sunk.

    840 beans / 35 students = 24 beans/student

    840/35=24

    so each student gets 24 beans. (its simply division)
