Alcohol and Libido? Could it be a fluke?
I have heard for a long time that extended alcohol use lowers the sex drive. However, a friend of mine told me that the few times he used small-ish doses of alcohol, it actually made his libido stronger. Is it just a fluke in his system, or what is it? O_o

Small amounts of alcohol lower your inhibitions and allows some people to relax more than they could otherwise. Heavy alcohol use can have the opposite effect.

Alcohol CAN make men and women horny DURING consumption of alcohol. The next day after a night of drinking can have different effects on libido depending on the person.
When a man is drinking, his testosterone is lowered...while testosterone in a woman is increased.
A decrease in testosterone in males from drinking, can reduce libido.
HERE IS THE CATCH:
Stress can reduce libido...so if a guy is stressed and drinks just a FEW drinks to relieve his stress, then drinking can actually prevent low libido.
**** If the guy is from the original people of Northwestern Europe...or if he is of Nordic ancestry...then he is playing by a completely different set of rules, whereby alcohol for the most part does not affect him like most people...i'm partially joking...but partially serious****

This is one of those things that has been debated. If alcohol does lower sex drives though, what your friend may be experiencing is not an increase in libido, but a decrease in inhibition. Alcohol definitely lowers inhibitions and this may lead him to more easily respond to his libido.
