Do I need permission to resell something that I modified?

If I buy something for example, like a certain brand of lemonade, and mix it with something else, like a certain brand of soda, do I need permission from the two companies to sell the mixture?

depends if you use there name or any trademarks in packaging

food and drink is messy lots of other rules other than copyright repackaging products can be illegal

also for example taking cheap nasty lemonade and putting in posh bottle to resell if you buy as trade should be okj but buying 2 bottles to mix into a new bottle would be dodgy even if only from a hygiene point of view

I am not an attorney but I would think you need permission. Almost all companies have distribution channels they control. It sounds like you need to become a distributor for the two companies and disclose your intentions. There are also formula patents to be concerned with.

As a side note, buying the products retail and then trying to repackage and retail again doesn't sound like a profitable venture. Become distributor for both and buy wholesale but patent your formula first. There would be little to stop the established companies from running with your idea. Sounds like a better option would be to just create a new formula from scratch.

    Good luck. Hope this helped.
