Take the laptop apart. Get to the fan that is smoking and figure out the dimensions of the fan. Goto BestBuy, TigerDirect or CompUSA (Whichever is closest to you) and buy a replacement FAN of the same dimensions and CONNECTOR END. Plug in the new fan in the place of the old fan and put everything back together. That's about it... You can always take it to a PC repair tech who will charge you 75 to 100 bucks for the job for a part that costs 5 bucks and about 1 hrs worth of your time to do it. I wouldn't run the Laptop with the fan short circuiting as it is now with the smoking, you could damage your motherboard and be completely out of a laptop to use.
