They will step up security. But how can you cure a disease that is incurable? We are already fighting two wars and there will always be nutjobs and haters around the world.

The "effort to cure the disease", is to attack them where they are. Which is Afghanistan. Which is why the Obama administration stepped up troops there even BEFORE this attack. So, the answer should be fairly obvious.
