whats the best kind of paper for smearing charcoal?

whenever i try smearing charcoal in a drawing, you can still see the marks even after its been smudged. is there a better kind of paper thatll keep this from happening?

    well it all depends on how you are using the charcoal pencil if you add a lot of pressure than you will have lines... but for me the paper that works well is a texture paper. also maybe you are using a really tin peace of paper. but normal white paper should work well

    simple one to try our teacher in drawing class made us use brown paper

    bags from the store cheap worked good I liked it was new and kinda old looking you could give it a try
