Excellent Question. The one I remember was called Masterpiece. It was fun to look at all the cards of paintings. For some reason I was intrigued by American Gothic. :) hahaha. I haven't seen it in years. I found a link but it's very expensive. It's probably a collector's item by now. http://www.amazon.com/Masterpiece-Auction-Game-Bid...
Thanks for bring it up. I have happy memories of playing it.

In 1999, while playing Masterpiece, a man from Indiana noticed that the cheap painting he used to cover a hole in his wall bore a striking resemblance to a painting by Martin Johnson Heade featured in the game. It was later discovered that this was a previously unknown work by Heade, Magnolias on Gold Velvet Cloth, and it was purchased by the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston for $1.25 million in 1999.

Yes, it's Masterpiece but it was published by Parker Brothers. It is a very common game so it should be easy to find in a thrift store or on EBay. FWIW, Modern Art by Mayfair Games is a better game about art collecting.

You must be talking about Masterpiece. It probably can still be found in your run-of-the-mill stores like Target or Walmart. I friend of mine bought the game just a few years ago.
