How much space is 750 GB for an external hard drive?

I know nothing about space or how much is what when it comes to technology. I want to get my brother a 750 GB external hard drive and so I'm wondering how much storage space that is [like how much music it would hold or how many hours of movies]. He has a lot of music and tv shows/movies to store.

Thanks in advance!

    Think of it this way. It will hold up to 1000 hours worth of video or about 200,000 songs or a combination of the two. I do not know what you are going to pay for this but check out the link below. I own 2 of these. I like them. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

    largely depends on size of the file

    but a rough guide to approximate storage for music movies photos etc

    will be written on the back of the box

    its the same when you buy a mp3 player this info is on the box

    I get 10 albums to a 1 gb for music

    my ripped films are 800 mb which is approx 4 to every 3 gb

    photos are 5mb each that over 2000 per 1 gb

    Buy 500GB SSD,HDD Become Slow As You Increase Their Capacity,Moreover SSD Are 10x Faster Than HDD,Less Power Requirements ie More Battery & Light In Weight Means Decreasing Laptop Weight.

    This could hold about 200-250thousand songs.Or about 3-4 thousand T.V shows,unless theyre high quality then maybe 400 episodes .Of course you will have some of both but this should hopefully give you a good idea of it's capacity.By the way Divot is incorrect and a Gigabyte is actualy 1024 megabytes,and a Terabyte is 1024 Gigabytes.

    1 gb means 1.5 CD's so normally in 750 GB HD you can easily fit 500 to 550 movies. Thats a lot of space I suppose.

    750 is pleny.

    many exrenal goes cheap this days with twice the capacity (1.5 TB)

    cacluate the space this way;

    1TB=1000 GB.

    1GB = 1000 MB.

    A SONG IS 3-5 MB, FULL MOVIE DVD= 4GB, HIGH DEFENTITION OR BLUERAY=15-25 GB.

    RIGHT CLICK ON EVERY FILE YOU WANT to measure, scroll to PRPERTIES >see the size
