Isn't voting blank the same as going into McDonalds and saying?
... "you know that hamburger? i dont want it" and then walking away

Possibly similar to a degree: both activities waste YOUR time with an impotent protest.
McDonalds probably won't be too affected by the loss of a single burger.
(Although a few years ago [2004 ?] the Board of Directors was shaken up for missing their annual budget. They'd failed by a dollar! )
Alternately votes matter!
In 1995 I changed my support for my local State Parlimentarian, Gary Fenlon, and voted against him. As it happened he lost his seat by a mere 15 votes. In doing so the government lost office by one seat.
I like to think one of the 15 votes was mine.
Had I and 14 others chosen not to vote, history would have been much different for the following 3 years and perhaps even down to now.
(Fenlon's replacement, Ted Radke, was crap so I re-elected Fenlon in '98.)
Votes matter. It is the least one can do to affect change in a democracy : there's rather more too, if one chooses.

Ah, but McDonalds, you actually have a choice of what you will get.
Either way I vote, the government wont listen to the things I want...environmental party fail...

voting blank sounds appealing hey ......... not wanting to be part of the mayhem and ego driven madness they call politics ...... but not nearly as appealing as not eating fakefood....... so yeah.... sounds like you're on to something there mate.

Guess that's why voter apathy is an epidemic.
