is a Lexus ISF a good reliable car?
I am looking to buy a new car. I think it is a good looking car. I like the fact that it is sporty looking with 4 doors but is it reliable?
WOW! ok for the people that can't just answer a question....
If all required maintanance is performed. You take care of the car as a responsible car owner. Do these car perform well? Has any one had problems with the car?

And how would it be reliable?
It doesn't maintain itself.
It doesn't fix itself.
It doesn't get fuel for itself.
It doesn't clean itself.
In fact, it does NOTHING without input from you, the owner.
So.....seeing as reliability involves independent action, how could it, or any other vehicle be reliable?
People use the word "reliability" in regards to cars all the time, but fail to ever bother to find out what the word actually means. It means to produce the same results over a variety of independent tests.
If you don't maintain the car, it will NOT produce the same results over time. Therefore, it cannot be considered reliable on it's own.

I am sure that it would be a very reliable car, I own a now 8 year old Lexus and it is still running strong.

Yes, it's a great car, and as true of most every product Lexus makes, gets high marks for reliability, quality and value.
You mentioned you liked the way it looks - keep in mind, the exterior is basically the same as an IS250 or IS350, minus a few trim details (nicer rims primarily) that you could certainly add for far less than the $25K extra an IS-F costs as compared to the IS250 or 350. It costs $25K more not because it looks a lot different than either of these two, but because it's a performance car. You spend the extra $25K because you want the 416 hp engine that gets you to 60 mph in less than 5 seconds.
If looks and reliability are your primary concerns - stick with an IS250 or IS350, save the extra money. They look about the same.
Finally, pay no attention to people whining about how it's just an expensive Toyota (it's not) or are otherwise jealous. Anyone who thinks that has obviously never driven one.....

Car will perform better than 95% of the cars on the road. Upkeep won't kill you but it is still a Lexus so be prepared unless you purchase a service option through the dealer. The IS-F is a little overpriced but if you love Lexus you will not be disappointed

Any Lexus is reliable as long as you take care of it. There is a saying "If you take care of a car, it will take care of you."

Yes, they are great cars. Follow the Maintainence schedule to keep it in great shape and it will run forever. It is a Lexus(Toyota) and will run for 300-400,000 miles with no problem. I have seen IIS300's with over 300,000 miles on them already.
