not if you really are authorized to use the account.

same w/ credit cards or other forms of accounts.

The friend's offer was for that one time in the past only. If you use it and the friend says you where not now allowed you could very well be charged with a felony (more than a year in jail). Either get your own account or get a written and signed agreement from the account hold that says you are allowed to use it and what the repayment term are.

Because it was quite some time ago, you need to verify that you are still allowed to do this. He may have changed his mind by now.

Also, get him to email his permission to you, with as many specifics as possible indicated in the email. If you don't have this, he can easily say you stole the information from him and can press charges. You don't have any proof that you have this permission.

You will be charged with theft or fraud if you are surprising your 'friend' with use of their card.

Why would you use your friend's credit card without re-checking with them it is okay now? What if you put them over their credit limit & suddenly they are charged daily over limit fees?

Don't you have a bank account with a debit card you can use for the transactions?
