kinda depends on what you're talking about.

the irs doesn't just arbitrarily deposit money into people's accounts...

if you're talking about a tax refrund, this really depnds on when you file.

If you use a preparer who can take the preparation fees out of your refund and send the rest to HSBC bank, you cannot get your money before about 1/20 if you take a loan against your refund, or the end of January if you do not take a loan.

Go to your preparer as soon as you get your W-2 so you will get your money ASAP

It may depend whether your preparer takes their fee out of your refund or if you pay that separately. If they take the fee out of your refund, the direct deposit goes to a different account first, and then the remainder to you once that clears, which may add a few days. But you should get it within a couple of weeks depending upon when it was actually submitted to the IRS.

Direct deposit takes 7-10 days after filing.

It depends on when the IRS approves your return and authorizes the distribution of funds each week.

Check your bank statements for your last tax refund if you kept them.

after you file you 2009 tax return. IRS is not accepting e-filing yet, so you have not filed. E-filing will be available in mid January. And your employer has until Jan 31. 2010 to provide you with the w2's.

    good luck!
